Philadelphia’s Oldest Chartered Bank
Serving the Philadelphia Area Since 1873
Tioga Franklin Savings Bank began as “Tioga Building & Loan Association” on March 31st 1873 in the city and county of Philadelphia. As the recently reunited Union was early into the reconstruction era, TFSB planted roots to begin with the rebirth of a nation.
TFSB stayed local and remained a facet of the banking community for many years. TFSB was present for the beginning and end of such events as the Spanish-American War, WW1, The Crash of 1929, WW2, and every financial event up to OPEC oil shock of 1973.
In 1973, the “Tioga Building and Loan Association” merged with the “Franklin Savings and Loan Association” to form the Tioga Franklin Savings Association. As of July 2000, TFSB became Tioga Franklin Savings Bank and a member of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC).
Our Strength Is In Our Community
Some have questioned the strength of small and mutually owned banks. Can TFSB survive in a world of “Too Big to Fail?” Can TFSB compete with high tech competitors? That answer is simple in this day and age, TFSB has been here for 150 years and we will continue on. The better question though is what TFSB is to you. Our clients make our community, our community is the strength of our name.
